U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will travel to Istanbul to attend a meeting of the G7 finance ministers and central bank governors on Oct. 3 and will stay for the World Bank and International Monetary Fund meetings on Oct. 4-5, the Treasury said on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
The Group of Seven meeting will discuss a range of issues, including the state of the global economy and financial market stability, the Treasury said in a statement.
Geithner is expected to hold a press conference following the meeting on Oct. 3. Details regarding his schedule for the weekend will be released in coming days, the Treasury said.
