An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit the east of Portugal on Saturday, though no injuries or damage had yet been reported, authorities said, dpa reported.
The epicentre of the quake was in the town of Sousel in the province of Portalegre. The shocks could be felt in numerous towns including those of Evora, Estremoz, Vila Vicosa and Beja as well as the Spanish region of Extremadura.
