Two people were killed and two were reported missing in a landslide in central Norway, police said Monday.
The landslide likely hit Sunday afternoon when a group of eight people were on a mountain hike, police said, DPA reported.
Due to poor mobile telephone reception a rescue operation was not launched until late Sunday when family and friends alerted authorities.
A search was underway near the Jamtfjelltind mountain in the municipality of Vefsn for the two missing hikers. One of the four survivors sustained serious injuries.
Police said a series of landslides and avalanches have been reported in the area where warm weather has contributed to melting snow.
