Atletico Madrid defeated Inter Milan 2-0 in Monaco Friday to clinch the UEFA Super Cup title, dpa reported.
Atletico were full value their victory over European champions Inter in the annual match between the winners of the Champions League and Europa League (previously UEFA Cup).
Jose Antonio Reyes opened the scoring in the 62nd minute before Sergio Aguero added a second with seven minutes remaining.
Inter, with Rafael Benitez now in charge following Jose Mourinho's departure to Real Madrid, were attempting to win a fifth trophy this year.
Following their Champions League win and the domestic league and cup double under Mourinho, Inter won the Italian Super Cup last week under Benitez with a 3-1 win over AS Roma.
