13 Afghan soldiers were killed in two separate suicide attacks launched by Taliban in Afghanistan, TRT English reported.

In the capital Kabul, two Taliban militants wearing suicide vests opened fire on a bus carrying Afghan army officers.

One attacker blew himself up, killing five and wounding nine soldiers and the other was shot by police before he could detonate his explosives.

In the northern city of Kunduz, 4 militants stormed an army recruitment center. Two of them detonated suicide vests. The attack left four Afghan army soldiers and four police dead. 20 soldiers were wounded.

The Kunduz assault came a day after German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited her country's troops stationed in the province.

Taliban spokesman said that the purpose of Merkel's trip was to give morale to her soldiers but the successful attack had shaken the hearts of the occupation soldiers.

News agencies draw attention to the fact that the attacks were launched after US President Obama's statement that Taliban momentum had been halted in many parts of Afghanistan.
