Three killed in fiery plane crash in Serbia

Three people were killed Sunday in a fiery plane crash near the town of Cacak in central Serbia, Xinhua reported according to Radio Television Serbia (RTS).

The Cessna 172 with a pilot and two passengers on board crashed while approaching a football field about a half hour after taking off from a local sport airport in nearby Preljin. According to witnesses on the ground, the plane burst into flames after hitting power lines during its emergency descent. There were no survivors.

The pilot had 15 years of experience and the flight had been authorized by local air traffic control. Officials with the Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate, along with local police, are investigating the incident.
