Three soldiers serving in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed Monday in a roadside bombing in eastern Afghanistan, the alliance said.

The ISAF did not disclose the nationalities of the casualties or the exact location of the attack, but most of the foreign soldiers serving in the volatile region along the border with Pakistan are Americans, DPA reported.

Monday's deaths followed five suffered by the ISAF at the weekend, including a British soldier who was shot Saturday by a man wearing an Afghan army uniform in the southern province of Helmand.

More than 310 foreign soldiers have been killed so far this year in Afghanistan.
