Bulgarians choose new parliament in snap poll

Voting began Sunday in Bulgaria in a parliamentary election likely to produce a narrow victory for the conservative GERB (Citizens for European Bulgaria) party, dpa reported.

GERB chief Boyko Borisov resigned as prime minister in February after protests against his government's austerity measures.

Borisov has promised to stick to austerity if he wins another term in office.

The opposition Socialist Party (BSP) is expected to come in a very close second.

Voting ends at 8 pm (1700 GMT).
