EU extends Russia sanctions for 1 year

The European Union has extended sanctions on Russia for one more year, RIA Novosti reported June 17.

The relations between Russia and the West deteriorated over the situation in Ukraine. Currently, there are three packages of the EU sanctions: individual sanctions which will remain in force till Sept.15, 2016, sector sanctions which will expire on July 31 and sanctions against Crimea.

Earlier, the EU extended the sanctions against Crimea till June 23, 2017.

In response to the sanctions, Russia restricted food import from western countries.
