The President of Ukraine met the Speaker of the South Korea

(ForUm) - Victor Yushchenko has met with Lim Chae-jung, Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea, reports Trend.

They spoke about how to develop political, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, the press office reports.

The President said Ukraine saw its relations with South Korea as strategic.

We are ready to build a model of cooperation that would fully reflect our mutual interests, he said.

President Yushchenko said close diplomatic relations between our countries helped boost economic and business ties. He requested Speaker Lim to recognize the 1932-1933 Holodomor as genocide against the Ukrainian nation.

The President said Ukraine condemned the recent nuclear test carried out by North Korea and demanded that it immediately stop its nuclear and missile programs.

Then they discussed preparations for Victor Yushchenko's December visit to South Korea. The Head of State expressed hopes it would result in a number of bilateral agreements.

Ukraine's First Deputy Speaker Adam Martynyuk, Deputy Foreign Minister Yuriy Kostenko and Deputy Secretariat Chief of Staff Oleksandr Chalyy attended the meeting.
