(ForUm) - Statements by the Ukrainian side on readiness to return to the issue of the Russian - Ukrainian gas transportation consortium give us hope that we might start the work of the consortium soon, Deputy Chairman of the board of the public joint-stock company Gazprom Aleksandr Medvedev told journalists Tuesday, Cabinet press office reported.
According to Medvedev, the Russian - Ukrainian gas transportation consortium was supposed to enhance and reconstruct the existent gas transportation system of Ukraine and develop new transportation capabilities. We planned to attract not only Germany, but also Italy and French partners into the project, reports Trend.
The Gazprom representative rejected all accusations of Russia's strive to attain control over the Ukrainian gas transportation system. "We have always stuck to the principle of parity and mutual profitability. Our readiness to cooperate in the project is connected with the need to maintain the system, including its export operations," he stressed.
