Respected Turkish child advocate Prof. Türkan Saylan died at early morning on Monday, CNN Turk reported.
Saylan, the head of the Support for Contemporary Living Association, or ÇYDD, has been kept under enforced rest at the intensive-care unit of the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine's oncology department, reported daily Hürriyet.
Saylan has been battling breast cancer for the last 17 years, said daily Milliyet. Saylan, herself a medical doctor, is known for as person who eradicated leprosy in Turkey.
