EU’s Ashton supports Turkey’s full membership bid
EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, who met Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, said the Strategic Dialogue between Turkey and the Union is not an alternative to Turkey's full membership, TRT World reported.
Diplomatic sources said Ashton, meeting Davutoglu in Brussels, told, "Turkey-EU Strategic Dialogue and membership talks should go on simultaneously".
Foreign Minister Davutoglu said that while Turkey was continuing to fulfill reforms, the EU should fulfill its responsibilities too.
Davutoglu attended a working breakfast held at the Egmont Place in Brussels within the scope of Non-official EU Foreign Ministers meeting. The Foreign Minister exchanged views on regional and international matters with his counterparts from the member countries.
Ahmet Davutoglu also held bilateral talks on the sidelines of the meeting.
