Three civilians, one soldier and one policeman were killed Sunday night in an attack by PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) terrorists in Turkey. Another ten people, including seven soldiers were wounded, Dogan agency reported.
Terrorists opened fire simultaneously on District security forces Department and District Gendarmerie Command in Shemdinli district of the southeastern Hakkari province. Firefight lasted for about two hours.
An operation against the terrorists using Cobra helicopters was launched in the district.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has lasted for over 25 years, claiming over 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by both the UN and the EU.
