Turkish police prevent import of radioactive substance

Police of the Turkish capital of Ankara on Wednesday intercepted radioactive substance cesium-137 illegally imported in the country, which is used in the manufacture of nuclear weapons, CNN Turk TV Channel reported today.
During the police operation a car with German numbers going from Georgia to Turkey, was stopped and during the search 500 grams of cesium-137 and Beretta pistol were found and seized. It is assumed that cesium-137 was imported into Georgia from Russia.
An investigation into the criminal case is underway.
