President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was welcomed with an official ceremony by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish TV channel TRT reported.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the national anthems of the two countries were played and President Erdogan and the Emir of Qatar inspected the honor guard.

President Erdogan and the Emir of Qatar had a tete a tete and chaired talks between delegations.

Then he attended a lunch given in his honor by the Emir of Qatar.

Assessing his contacts in Qatar, Erdogan shared decisions taken on relations between the two countries.

Erdogan said that a High Level Strategic Council will be set up between Turkey and Qatar and next year has been declared Turkey-Qatar year.

Touching on relations with Qatar, Erdogan said that joint investments will develop differently.

"Our talks with the Emir of Qatar were very productive. We took decisions on future steps. Our friends concerned will intensify talks in the forthcoming process. I hold the view that Turkey's sensitivities on real investments will increase. These steps will further develop economic relations between Turkey and Qatar. End of this year and next year will be Turkey-Qatar year of culture. This will be observed differently in both Turkey and Qatar. Work will be carried out on setting up a High Level Strategic Council that constitutes the most important step taken today", - Erdogan said.
