As expected: Turkey switching to presidential government

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 1

As it was expected, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) became an absolute winner of the snap parliamentary election in Turkey.

According to Turkey's Supreme Electoral Council (YSK), the AKP garnered 49.9 percent of the vote at the election.

Some political experts believe that the last pre-election rally in the south-eastern Turkish province of Diyarbakir, which involved Turkey's Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, has become a kind of impulse to the AKP's victory in the snap election.

When examining the previous parliamentary elections held in Turkey, one can see that the difference in votes gained by the AKP on the current and previous elections is about 10 percent, which is an excellent indicator.

Meanwhile, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) suffered the biggest blow at the Nov. 1 snap election. Namely the lack of the far-sighted policy of MHP led to the victory of AKP.

As for the steps to be taken by the AKP after forming the government, first, a new constitution will be adopted which will allow to switch from the parliamentary to the presidential form of governance.

In order to adopt new constitution, first of all, voting in the parliament is necessary. If such a voting becomes impossible, a nationwide referendum will be held.

It is not ruled out that the results of the referendum on adopting the new constitution will be positive for the Justice and Development Party.

Moreover, there is no doubt that Turkey won't change its foreign policy towards the region.

AKP's victory in the snap parliamentary election also guarantees the successful implementation of the energy projects in Turkey which is very important for the country.
