Turkey sees increase in cargo movement through Adana Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11

The volume of cargo transported through the Turkish Adana Airport amounted to 11,317 tons from January through May 2021, which is 20 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

During the mentioned period, the volume of cargo transportation on domestic flights amounted to 9,455 tons (an increase of 31 percent on annual basis), on international - 1,862 tons (decrease of 14 percent).

"At the same time, passenger traffic at Adana Airport amounted to 908,083 people, having dropped by 14 percent on annual basis. The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 868,913 people (decrease of 6 percent), on international flights - 39,170 people (decrease by 70 percent)," the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the number of flights performed from the mentioned airport during the first 5 months of 2021 was 22,980, which is 10 percent more compared to the same period of last year. Meanwhile, the number of flights performed on domestic routes was 13,127 (an increase of 6 percent), on international lines - 9,853 (an increase of 16 percent).

From January through May, the passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey amounted to over 29.4 million people, and the volume of cargo transportation – 1,05 million tons.
