Georgia lowers cement imports from Turkey

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 9

The export of cement from Turkey to Georgia decreased by 4.9 percent from January through July 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, amounting to $26.7 million, the Turkish Ministry of Trade told Trend on.

In July 2021, the export volume of cement from Turkey to Georgia made up $2.82 million, which is 28 percent less compared to July 2020, the ministry said.

Turkey increased the export of cement by 24.9 percent from January through July 2021 compared to the same period of last year up to $2.6 billion.

So, Turkey exported cement worth $358.2 million in July 2021, which is by 2.2 percent more than in July 2020.

Turkey’s export of cement reached $4.3 billion over the past 12 months (from July 2020 through July 2021).
