Turkish firms win tenders worth $168 mln in Turkmenistan

(Cihan) - Six Turkish companies have won tenders on the construction of residences and government buildings in Turkmenistan. The sum of the tenders they have won totals $168 million.

The contribution of Turkish firms to the reconstruction of Turkmenistan demonstrates itself through the success of the firms at various tenders for new constructions.

Gurbanguli Berdimuhammedov, the new president of this developing Central Asian country, approved several tenders in the first cabinet meeting held in his term in office. Six project, including residential projects, prepared by Turkish firms are among the tenders endorses by the new president.

Gap Construction, an affiliate of Calik Holding, one of Turkey's leading groups, will construct modern residences in capital Ashgabat.

Polimeks, another Turkish company operating in the country, won the Health Ministry's tender for the construction and equipment of Oncology Centre Offices with advanced medical technological devices. The construction of the building is set to start by the end of this month with a budget of some $45 million, and is expected to be completed in Dec. 2008.
