PACE President and COE Enlargement Commissioner strongly condemn Ankara bombing

. ( Cihan ) - Reactions on Ankara bombing continue to come from various EU officials. Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly President (PACE) Renй van der Linden, currently on official visit in Belgrade, Serbia, strongly condemned the recent bomb attack in Ankara and said that there was no place for those who put bombs in the streets to kill innocent people.

"Nothing can justify such attacks, which are an assault on the fundamental principles of our societies," said Linden.

Lined expressed support for Turkey's democratic institutions and state that those trying to destabilize the democracy should be fought against.

"We have to stand firm for democracy and the rule of law and intensify cooperation in the fight against terrorism" said Linden in his statement.

Council of Europe Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn characterized the attack as "cowardly and horrible." The commissioner expressed solidarity with Turkey in its efforts to fight terrorism.

Both officials sent condolences for the dead and wished speedy recovery for the injured.
