Until now $46.9 billion were invested in Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector, Azerbaijani Ministry of Industry and Energy told Trend on Tuesday.
As the Ministry said, in the last 10 years $40.2 billion were invested in oil and gas sector of Azerbaijan.
One of the large capital-intensive oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan is a project of development of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil and gas fields in the Caspian Sea.
In total in 2003-2013, 321.2 million tons of oil was produced from the block, of which 168.3 million tons fell to profit oil of Azerbaijan, the Ministry told.
The contract to develop "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" large offshore field was signed in 1994.
Shares in the contract for development of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of fields is distributed as follows: BP (operator in Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli) - 35.78 per cent, Chevron - 11.27 per cent, Inpex - 10.96 per cent, AzACG - 11.65 per cent, Statoil - 8.56 per cent, Exxon - 8 per cent, TPAO - 6.75 per cent, Itochu - 4.3 per cent and ONGC - 2.72 per cent.
