The candidates running for Kazakhstan's Majlis, the lower house of the parliament, running from People's Assembly of Kazakhstan started their election campaigns March 7.

The campaigning is to last until March 19, Kazakhstan's Central Election Commission said.

Funds were allocated from the state budget for the production of general information posters of the candidates with a standard set of information that are placed at the election commission of the Astana city and at voting precincts.

Nine MPs will be elected among the candidates running from People's Assembly of Kazakhstan. The average age of those candidates is 57.5 years.

Elections of MPs elected by the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan will be held March 21.

Candidates, who will receive over 50 percent of the votes of the Assembly members, who took part in voting, will be considered elected.

The other 98 MPs running for the Majlis will be elected on party lists in the general elections to be held March 20.
