President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili ordered to break off diplomatic relations with Tuvalu.

The President signed a decree on the termination of the protocol "On establishment of diplomatic and consular relations between Georgia and Tuvalu", the Georgian president's administration told Trend on Thursday.

The reason was recognition by this state of the Georgian breakaway regions- Abkhazia and South Ossetia this week.

Georgia established diplomatic and consular relations with Tuvalu on Feb 7, 2011.

Tuvalu is a country in Polynesia, which is located on five atolls and four islands in the South Pacific. The total land area is 26 square meters, length of coastline - 21 kilometers. Capital - Funafuti.
