The main foreign policy principle of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is the normalization and improvement of relations with neighboring countries, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsun Pakayin said at a press conference on Nov.27 commenting on Hassan Rouhani's policy regarding neighboring countries, particularly, Azerbaijan.
According to the ambassador, among the neighboring countries, Iran has the greatest affinity for Azerbaijan.
"The friendship between our countries is permanent. On my opinion, during Hassan Rouhani's presidency, the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran will develop even more," Pakayin said.
Talking about the possibility of the Iranian president's visit to Azerbaijan, the ambassador stressed that the Iranian president will probably visit all friendly countries, however, the exact date of the visit to Azerbaijan is unknown yet.
The ambassador also stressed that Hassan Rouhani was a member of Supreme Security Council for over 20 years and is very familiar with the neighboring countries, he paid a visit to Azerbaijan during the leadership of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.
