During phone conversation Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov invited Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to pay official visit to Turkmenistan in the end of December, 2009.
This invitation was accepted with great gratitude. Exact data of the visit will be coordinated via diplomatic channels.
The Iranian President is planned to take part in the ceremony of putting into operation inter-state natural gas line along the route Dovletabad-Serakhs-Hangeran. Turkmen natural fuel will be supplied to the neighboring country, the government press-office said.
Since 1996, Turkmenistan has supplied gas to Iran via the route from the western field of Korpeje to the Iranian city of Kurt-Kui since 1996. Its capacity is limited to 8 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The sides have recently agreed to build a new pipe from the southern fields of Turkmenistan.
Turkmen press said that acceleration of cooperation with Iran in natural gas supplies is realized within new energy strategy of Turkmenistan, based on the principles of diversification of energy resources export, mutual benefit, economic value and sound competition.
During phone conversation Turkmen and Iranian Presidents also discussed construction of the railway on Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan designed to ensure the most economic route from Europe to the Persian Gulf, and agreed to intensify work on this important transportation-communication facility having significance for development of bilateral and regional cooperation.
Berdymukhamedov congratulates Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with reelection and wished him success in realization of all affairs and initiatives for the sake of progress and well-being of fraternal Iranian people. Iranian President expressed his confidence in further deepening and expansion of continuing close relations with fraternal Turkmenistan. Iranian people consider Turkmenistan as true friend and reliable partner.
