The UN Conference on Sustainable Development began in Rio de Janeiro today, Avesta.Tj reports.
For many heads of state and government, this forum will be a platform for various initiatives.
Thus, Tajikistan plans to speak with a number of projects aimed at sustainable development, the UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Alexander Zuyev, said.
"We launch there two big initiatives - on integrated water resources management and sustainable access to energy for all. These will be big initiatives, not only the president of Tajikistan, but also the general secretary of the organization, and Helen Clark, UNDP Administrator will attend launch of the initiatives," Zuyev said.
Conference in Rio de Janeiro will run from June 20 to 22. Its participants will discuss a wide range of issues, which include creation of jobs, access to energy sources, building green cities, food security, sustainable agriculture development, ensuring access to water, mitigation of consequences of natural disasters.
