The re-elected president of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon took oath on Nov. 16. The solemn ceremony and the president's speech are taking place in the city residence of the government - Kohi Somon palace.

The presidential elections were held in Tajikistan on November 6. The current President Emomali Rahmon won the elections for the fourth time with 84.23 per cent of the votes.

"I swear as the president to defend the Constitution and laws of the republic, guarantee the rights, freedoms, honor and dignity of citizens, defend the territorial integrity, political, economic and cultural independence of Tajikistan, faithfully serve the people," Rahmon said, putting his right hand on the country's constitution.

Rahmon said the work on reduction of poverty, creation of jobs, provision of energy independence and strengthening of cooperation with developed countries will continue in the next seven years.

"Our foreign policy's vector remains the same, and Tajikistan in the next seven years will continue implementing the open door policy - we will develop cooperation with friendly countries, national interests of our country will be taken into account while implementation of our foreign policy, which is not directed against other countries," Rahmon said.

"We have set out three strategic goals: achieving food security, energy security and getting out of traffic isolation, and consistently strive to achieve them," the Turkmen president said.
