Yemeni protesters storm the streets of the capital outraged at potential constitutional amendments, which could, among other things, waiver a limit on the president's tenure.

On Sunday, around 2,000 opposition activists demonstrated outside the parliament's compound in Sana'a against the amendments, dpa reported.

The changes were approved by the parliament on Saturday with 165 'Yes' votes from President Ali Abdullah Saleh's ruling General People's Congress, Xinhua said.

Saleh has already been in the office for 32 years with several opposition members' arguing that long-promised reforms have not taken place.

The protesters carried placards reading, "The constitutional amendments are a retreat from the republican regime and democracy" and "No to re-election, no to inheritance of power," dpa added.

The parliament is expected to hold a formal vote on the issue in March.
