Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri has ended his working visit to the United States, where he met with the leaders of the International Trade Organisation and American Millennium Corporation, the prime minister's press office reported.

Discussions covered a $100-$150 million contract to support new investments in education. Part of this sum will be used for the rehabilitation of schools, while part will be directed to the development of a new American university, where Georgian students can obtain U.S. diplomas. In addition, Georgian-US talks on increasing trade turnover will start in late May.

During the visit, Gilauri also met with Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde where they discussed financial prospects of cooperation.

"It was stressed that Georgia's economy is one of the strongest in the world. It has a low budget deficit and debt, low inflation rate and a sound banking system. In addition it was noted that Georgia has a valuable experience in addressing economic problems. Today we have a growing economy. It is important to share this experience," Gilauri said.
