Suspected US drone attack kills three in Pakistan

A suspected US unmanned drone aircraft on Monday fired two missiles into a car in Pakistan's tribal region along the Afghan border, killing three people, intelligence officials said.

The missile strike took place in Malak Azhar village, some nine kilometres south-east of Miranshah, the main town in the militancy-hit North Waziristan district, DPA reported.

An intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the identities of those killed were not known yet.

It was the fourth drone attack in the last 24 hours. On Sunday morning, two missiles hit a vehicle in neighbouring South Waziristan district but suspected militants managed to leave the car.

Hours later six people died and five were injured when drone aircraft fired two missiles each into a suspected centre of Taliban activity and a vehicle. Intelligence officials claimed that all those killed were Islamist insurgents.
