Georgia to transfer TV channels to Azerbaijani satellite resources

Azerkosmos JSC started testing Georgia’s TV channels broadcasted in an open format via Azerbaijan’s Azerspace/Africasat-1a telecommunications satellite.

Azerkosmos JSC started testing Georgia's TV channels broadcasted in an open format via Azerbaijan's Azerspace/Africasat-1a telecommunications satellite, a source in the telecommunications market told Trend on Feb.24.

Currently, the test broadcasts of Georgian TV channels such as Obieqtivi TV, 2 TV, Comedy Arkhi, Vip TV, Trialeti, TV 3, GDS TV and Quality Channel are being carried out via the Azerbaijani satellite.

Over 80 TV and radio channels are broadcast via Azerspace/Africasat-1a satellite. The satellite has been placed on an orbital position of 46 degrees east longitude.

To view the television content, custom satellite dishes must be configured as follows: frequency - 11169 MHz, speed: 20400, polarization - horizontal and FEC - 5/6.

Azerbaijan's first telecommunications satellite Azerspace/Africasat-1a was launched on Feb.8, 2013. It is designed to render digital television, data transmission services, creation of multi-service VSAT networks and ensure government communications. The service area of Azerspace/Africasat-1a includes Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa.
