The British Nobel Oil Services company is studying the issue of cooperation with the French Total E&P Azerbaijan within the framework of the development of the Absheron gas field in Azerbaijan, a source on the oil and gas market of Azerbaijan told Trend Nov.24.
"Nobel Oil is interested in cooperation with foreign operators of fields in Azerbaijan," the source said. "The company, in particular, is interested in participating in the Absheron major gas project as a subcontractor of Total. Drilling on this field will be carried out at a great depth, and the company has such experience."
The discovery of the "Absheron" field was announced in September 2011. A definitive investment decision on the field is expected to be taken in the last quarter of 2017.
Drilling of a first exploratory well will start at the field in Q3 2019, while the initial gas flow from the field is planned to be obtained in late 2021 or early 2022.
Potential reserves of the "Absheron" field are estimated at 350 billion cubic meters of gas and 45 million tons of condensate. Participants of the project on the "Absheron" field are: SOCAR (40 percent), French companies Total (40 percent) and Engie (20 percent).
