The number of economically active citizens in Azerbaijan has increased as of October 1, 2021, Trend reports via the State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, this indicator amounted to 5.3 million people, up by 49,600 people on annual basis.
At the same time, totally 4.9 million citizens were employed as of reporting date, which is 93,000 people more than by October 1, 2020.
Meanwhile, the number of hired employees increased by 0.8 percent over the year, making up 1.6 million people, of whom 900,000 were involved in the public sector of the economy, and 700,000 people - in the private sector.
About 23.8 percent of employees were involved in the production, including 7.5 percent in the processing industry, 7.5 percent in construction, 3.5 percent in agriculture, forestry, and fishing, 1.9 percent in mining, water supply, waste treatment and recycling sectors.
