Bundestag member Florian Hahn, (CDU/CSU), Member of Defense Committee responded to the European Azerbaijan Society on Armenia's illegal plans for Khojaly airport.
"The United Nations have established clarity in their resolutions with regards to the status of Nagorno-Karabakh," Hahn said. "The occupation is against international law and has to be ended immediately. Only with the ending of the occupation peace can be achieved between the two nations."
"Territorial integrity is what makes a state functioning. Nagorno-Karabakh is a solid integral part of Azerbaijan," he added. "This is declared in all resolutions of the security council of the United Nations. Therefore Armenia has to move to end the occupations and hence allow the return of the refugees."
"Azerbaijan and Germany are partners. Azerbaijan plays an important role for the stability of the region," he stressed. "In the light of this the solution of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh is of upmost importance. Germany engages fully to achieve this peaceful resolution. We trust especially our cooperation in the framework of the United Nations and the OSCE."
"All provocations to disturb the peace process have to be avoided," he said. "But the reopening of the Khojaly airport would cause the exact opposite. Under all circumstances the integrity of the Azerbaijan airspace has to be maintained."
