Man Who Killed Azeri in Strasbourg Surrenders to Police

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 January/corr. Trend K. Zarbaliyeva/ The Chief Police Precinct of Strasbourg has reported the arrest of the person suspected of murdering 18 year-old Azeri in Strasbourg ( France).

Agayev Orkhan was murdered on 7 January at 17:30 hours Paris time as a result of a stab to the neck during a fight in a tram. The reason of the incident is supposed to be a cell phone.

The arrested man whose name has not been disclosed is aged around 30 to 35 year and is a resident of Elzas, a source in the Permanent Representation of Azerbaijan Republic in Council of Europe reported to Trend.

The suspect who had previous convictions with the law surrendered willingly. The criminal department of Strasbourg is holding an inquiry into the murder. Statements from witnesses and surveillance cameras installed in the tram have speeded up the case.

The incident caused dissatisfaction among Azeris living in Elzas and in the other regions of France and drew the attention of the Consulate of Turkey in Strasbourg, the Permanent Representation of Turkey in Council of Europe and the Kazakhstani government as well. They demonstrated solidarity with Azeris in this respect.

According to reports, the father of the murdered Azeri is the owner of Baki Gejeleri (Nights of Baku) restaurant in Strasbourg. Orkhan Agayev turned 18 on 6 January. He was murdered 50 m from the Baki Gejeleri restaurant.
