Heavy rains, which began last night in the Barda region, have caused serious damage, Trend regional correspondent reported. Growth in the water level of the Tartar River caused flooding. Some houses near the river, which mainly IDPs reside, were destroyed. Railways and motor road bridges are in poor condition.

The Barda Region Emergency Situations Commission attracted a large number of techniques to the territory to remove the consequences of natural disasters, but it was impossible to take necessary measures.

The heavy rains overflooded the market of construction materials located on the banks of the Terter River. More than 300 trade objects have remained under water. The flood mainly damaged cement and wooden materials. The owners were forced to save their goods, trying to take them on trucks.

Over the past 30 years, such increase has not been observed in the Tartar River, said Yashar Zamanov, the head of the Barda Region Construction and Architecture Department. The situation became even more dangerous, because Armenians opened up barriers of the Sarsang reservoir in the occupied territory.
