An earthquake measuring 3 points on the Richter scale took place in the Caspian Sea near the Sumgayit city in Azerbaijan this morning, head of the Republican Seismic Survey Centre at the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Gurban Yetirmishli told Trend.

Yetirmishli said the earthquake lasted 20-25 seconds. He said the population became anxious with the tremors, because earthquake enlightenment is poor.

As the ANAS Republican Seismic Survey Centre's website reported, the earthquake took place at 08:23 in the Caspian Sea in 25 km north from the Sumgayit city. The earthquake was felt at 3 points in the Sumgayit city. No damage and casualties are recorded as a result of the earthquake.
