The 2014 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Baku Masters kicked off in Azerbaijani capital of Baku Sept. 10.

Over 20 countries are taking part in the championship, which is being held at the Heyat Beach Volleyball Center in the township of Pirshagi.

Famous sportsmen from Azerbaijan, Germany, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Finland and other countries will struggle for the championship in the tournament, which will last until Sept. 14.

The winning team will receive a cash prize in the amount of 6,000 euros, the runners-up will win 4,000 euros, while the winners of the third place will get a cash prize of 3,000 euros.

The winners will also be awarded a cup and medals.

The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) President Andre Meyer and Vice President Jan Hronek are currently in Baku.

Azerbaijani Beach Volleyball Association, created this year, is led by the Azeryolservis Open Joint-stock Company Head, MP Javid Gurbanov.
