Azerbaijan, Salyan / Trend corr.E.Mammadov / Galib Rzayev, the inspector on agitation and propaganda at the State Traffic Police Department of Salyan region of Azerbaijan, stated that the number of traffic accidents have increased throughout Azerbaijan, particularly in Salyan region in recent years. There are problems in driving vehicles, despite many drivers do not understand their responsibilities, and break rules on limited speed.
In many cases passengers do not observe the traffic rules. Some 20 traffic accidents were registerd in Salyan region within six months of 2006. As a result of accidents 14 people died, 35 - injured. Some 22 traffic accidents were registered in the first quarter of 2007. Fifteen people died, 21 -injured.
The number of clashes in internal service roads increased by 3 cases as compared to the same period in 2006. In 2007 some 8 traffic accidents were registered, compared to 2006 when 5 accidents were registered, 3 people died, 7 - injured. Six people were injured.
