Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / State Frontier Service of Azerbaijan denied allegations that the Azerbaijani frontiers fired at a Georgian shepherd who was tending his livestock in the Georgian-Azerbaijani border.
On 27 August, 34 year old Elimkhan Nasibov, a resident of the Georgian district of Marneuli which is densely occupied by Azerbaijanis, was fired at near the Krasni Most checkpoint on the Azerbaijani-Georgian border. Nasibov died instantly.
According to information received from the police of the Kvemo Kartli region, the Georgian citizen Nasibov was tending his livestock near the border at 08:00 hours in the morning when several shots were fired from the Azerbaijani side.
He received two bullets, one in the throat and the other in the arm. As Nasibov tended his cows between the posts of the front borders of Azerbaijan and Georgia, investigations are ongoing to detect whether Nasibov had violated the border with Azerbaijan.
The initial investigation was held by the police of Kvemo Kartli region. Nasibov's family has refused to hold legal medical examinations.
It is not excluded that a joint investigation will be held by the two countries.
