Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 September / Trend corr. E.Abbasli / The Azerbaijani opposition presidential candidature will campaign in regions.
"Firstly, we plan to hold mass actions in Sumgayit," Fazil Gazanfaroglu, a presidential candidature and the chairman of the Great Establishment Party (GEP), told Trend on 18 September.
The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. A total of seven candidates will take part in the elections including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of Ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party, Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli. Election campaign started on 17 September.
The opposition GEP was established in 2003 and is presented at the parliament with one MP.
Primary attention will be drawn to regions, where mass actions are to be held during the pre-elections campaign, Gazanfaroglu said. The ruling New Azerbaijan Party continued a previous tradition, beginning propaganda demonstrations in the capital city.
