Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will visit India on Jan. 23, Indian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kazakhstan Ashok Sajjanhar told Trend .
"The visit will begin on Jan. 23 and last four days," he said. "We plan to sign roughly 8-9 agreements at a governmental and business level in the oil and gas, agricultural, space development, nano- and bio-technology and educational sectors."
On the first day of his visit, Nazarbayev will meet Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
A business forum will later be held for Kazakh and Indian companies.
The president will also meet with leaders of Indian political parties, including the opposition. A reception will be held to honor Nazarbayev on behalf of the PM.
On the second day, the president will visit Mahatma Gandhi's mausoleum and other historical places.
"Nazarbayev will be a major guest on Republican Day on Jan 25.," Sajjanhar said. "This is an important holiday for the country."
He said India traditionally invites the head of a country regarded as a strategic partner on the holiday.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy and former Russian President Vladimir Putin were guests in the past.
"Nazarbayev will attend a grand ceremony, military parade and Indian Air Force show," Sajjanhar said.
Indian President Pratibha Patil will organize a reception in honor of his Kazakh counterpart in the evening.
Nazarbayev's official visit will end on Jan. 26. His last visit to the country was 7 years ago.
