German FM meets with Afghan president

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai on April 29. 

Steinmeier said at the meeting that Germany will continue efforts to restore Afghanistan and ensure country's security. Germany will assist with the presidential elections in Afghanistan," minister said.

Karzai thanked Germany for assistance with the war on terrorism and narcotics. The Afghan fund will never forget the assistance rendered by Germany, the press release by the Afghan Presidential Administrations said.

Steinmeier paid a two-day visit to Afghanistan. He will meet with Afghan officials and representatives of German forces deployed in northern Afghanistan.

Germany has deployed 3,800 German military men in Afghanistan. The number of military men is expected to be increased up to 4,400 in future. Afghan President will visit Germany soon, Steinmeier said.
