NATO will open a Permanent Mission in Georgia in September it has been announced as the matter is discussed Thursday by three of the country's parliamentary committees.

The chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Akaki Minashvili, said that the opening of the NATO Permanent Mission will contribute to the deepening relations between Georgia and the military alliance.

"This is another step in deepening the integration of Georgia into NATO," he said.

Minashvili said that the opening of a Permanent Mission will enhance relations between the leadership of the NATO and the Georgian government.

NATO is currently represented in Georgia by a liaison officer whose office is located in the Georgian Defense Ministry.
