Azerbaijani State Family, Women and Children Affairs Committee Chairperson Hijran Huseynova said the fact that women received more votes in the 2010 parliamentary elections than in previous years demonstrates the success of Azerbaijan's policy.
"The victory of 19 women in the elections is a good result," Huseynova told journalists today.
Azerbaijan held the elections Nov. 7. The Central Election Commission reported that 690 candidates ran in the elections.
Fourteen women were represented in the previous parliament.
