Nearly half of Moldovans living in Azerbaijan vote for Liberal Democrats (UPDATE)

According to preliminary information, nearly half of the Moldovans residing in Azerbaijan voted for the Liberal Democrats during the Moldovan parliamentary elections, the Moldovan Embassy in Baku told Trend today.

"The number of Moldovans living in Azerbaijan is quite low," the embassy said. "Therefore, only 54 Moldovan citizens voted at our polling station."

According to preliminary data, 25 voters cast their ballots for the Liberal Democratic Party, six backed the Liberal Party, five supported the Democratic Party and three voted for the Communist Party, the embassy said.

Moldova held early parliamentary elections on Nov. 28.

After counting of 91.1 percent of ballots, the Communist Party came in first place with 41.2 percent of the votes, followed by the Liberal Democratic Party (28 percent), the Democratic Party (13.2 percent) and the Liberal Party (8.8 percent).
