The SCO Summit will held in Astana on June 15, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported today.
"During the meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing, the organization's member states unanimously supported Kazak President Nursultan Nazarbayev's proposal to hold the summit, which marks the tenth anniversary of its foundation, on June 15 in Astana," the ministry said.
The next meeting of the SCO Council of National Coordinators will be held in Beijing from Jan. 25-28.
The SCO is a regional international organization founded in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
Its main objective is to strengthen stability and security, unite participating states, fight terrorism, separatism, extremism and drug trafficking, and increase economic cooperation, energy partnership, and scientific and cultural cooperation.
