Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 13 / Trend E. Mehdiyev /
The Azerbaijani opposition cannot unite due to the positions of its members, Democratic Party of Azerbaijan Chairman Sardar Jalaloglu said.
"The so-called Public Chamber wants to act as the power center of the opposition," he told Trend today. "But this is impossible because there are individual citizens rather than political parties. One cannot introduce this union as a power center of the opposition."
The Karabakh political bloc consists of the opposition Democratic Party of Azerbaijan and the Umid party. It sent a letter to the opposition parties. It emphasizes the importance of the opposition's unification.
Speaking about the reasons why this initiative cannot be realized, Jalaloglu said there were problems creating the so-called Public Chamber.
"It is impossible to join forces in the so-called Public Chamber from a psychological point of view," he said. "This is the first reason. We consider it more appropriate to unite the opposition on the basis of a completely new project, new ideas."
Head of the Party Lala Shovkat and forces around her agreed to create the union. They are waiting for the so-called Public Chamber to determine its position.
If the so-called Public Chamber acted with this proposal, it could happen.
"Unfortunately, the so-called Public Chamber has not put forward this proposal," he said. "It does not want to accept this idea."
