President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree to dismiss Nokerguly Atagulyev from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the UAE due to transfer to another job.
Atagulyev was appointed vice-premier of commerce and the textile industry by another decree.
UAE is well represented on the Turkmen market. Companies from UAE mainly involved in oil and gas industry at this stage.
Dragon Oil is working under the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) in the Turkmen sector of Caspian Sea. Petrofac is the contractor to perform services for the development of the country's largest gas fields in the Galkynysh in Mary region. The company Mubadala is in talks on the prospects for cooperation in the Caspian Sea.
Projects in the field of communications are studied. Particularly, Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) of the UAE is one of the largest mobile operators in the world (over 100 million subscribers) is interested in the local market. Two states are also discussing possibilities of cooperation in investment, urban development and trade.
